 GET INSPIRED!

Ok...we admit it. We just love celebrating us! We believe it's important that

we do - especially in a world that so rarely honors the beauty and brilliance

of black women and girls. That's why we like to share (aka brag on!) our stories at every opportunty.

Meet the go-getters and out-the-box thinkers who aren't afraid to pursue their passion. Get to know the storytellers - writers, filmmakers, artists or change-agents - impacting the world with their ideas, creations, and innovations. Or glean wisdom from ladies who've traveled paths we've yet to voyage. We hope you see yourself in their stories and feel inspired to go for it!

Khleris Rogers

Desree Verdejo

It takes courage to leave our comfort zone in order to chase our dreams. Enter Desiree Verdejo. After practicing law for seven years, Desiree founded Harlem-based Vivrant Beauty, a beauty boutique and e-commerce

site that caters to the beauty needs of black women by offereing person-of-color-owned brands that rarely get the exposure they deserve. Visit Vivrant Beauty to enjoy an elevated shopping experience. We assure you, you won't be disappointed!

After being bullied about her dark complexion, Kheris decided to take matters into her own hands. She started her very own campaign and t-shirt line, Flexin' In My Complexion, to help spread the message of self-love. Kheris wants every girl to feel good in their skin and to know they're beautiful in their own way. We so love her empowering messsage!

Rue Mapp

Rue Mapp, a former Morgan Stanley analyst, decided to combine the things she loved - from nature to community to technology - into an organization that would reconnect African-Americans to the outdoors. She started Outdoor Afro, an organization that encourages African Americans to embrace the outdoors and all the activities it has to offer. The organization has become the nation’s leading, cutting edge network with trained leaders and active members across the nation!

#BGUiNspires is a diverse collection of stories featuring the unique experiences of black women and girls focused on highlighting today's movers and shakers and inspiring tomorrow’s future leaders.
