Our Work

We're a grassroots movement designed to educate, empower and amplify the voices of women and girls - whom we view as powerful and necessary assets to the community. We accomplish this by:

  • Creating a digital platform and hosting in-person intergenerational conversations that drive wisdom-sharing, storytelling and important connections amongst women and girls.

  • Providing women and girls with useful tools, resources and inspiration to help them feel empowered in their homes, communities and workplace.

  • Delivering educational programs aimed at building self-esteem, media literacy and leadership opportunities amongst girls and young women ages 11-24. Click here to learn more about our programs for girls.

  • Connecting Black girls and young women to powerful mentors and role models.

WHY BLACK GIRLS

It’s really challenging being a girl in today’s world. Maintaining a healthy self-image and individuality

in a media driven culture can be difficult. Add peer pressure, bullying, and the lack of positive female role models, life can be pretty tough to navigate.

Black girls are especially vulnerable as they face

a peculiar set of problems. They experience the highest rates of criminalization and incarceration. They are disproportionately represented in the juvenile justice system and are more likely than

any other race to face barriers in completing school and finding employment.

Despite this unsettling data, the national focus remains on supporting boys of color. We know

that Black girls are suffering under similar challenges and deserve the same safety nets - at scale and financially supported - as their male counterparts. We also know that Black girls have limitless potential. They play a crucial role in solving pressing issues facing their communities which is why programs that build on their strenghts are critical.

We move the conversation from 'why' to 'how' by focusing on empowerment  - inspiring girls

to recognize their value and discover their own unique voice. Black girls have a lot to say about making the world a better place. When given the tools, space, and encouragement they will become a powerful force for change!
